A poem

To still the rolling of the waves,
The Angels line my sheets
With fickle feathers,
Give their songs in mocking voices:
“Your bed is always cold where no-one lies,”
They sing.
I can’t abide their noises.

When the thread is stained,
And all our fancy
Takes apart the plotted course,
The sextant lies:
Some stars are only lanterns,
Floating out to sea,
Then falling on the water
As the fire dies.

The road by the river had been one of my favorites. I could walk at the same speed as the river. I could feel it breathing. It was alive. More than anything, it was the river we had to thank for creating the town. For grinding down the hills over how many hundreds of thousands of years, for hauling the dirt, filling the sea, and making the trees grow. The town belonged to the river from the very beginning, and it would always be that way.

Our first album, ‘London’ is up for pre-sale now. We’re giving a free illustrated map of ‘London’ with the first hundred orders and we’re doing a t-shirt deal with the pre-orders too that won’t be available once the record is in the wild. Household Name records have pressed some white vinyl also.

We’ll have a small number of CDs of the Clapton Pond single with us when we tour with Crazy Arm and Great Cynics at the end of February/early March – they come with 60 Miles and a re-recording of Re-arranging The Dust that we did while we were down with Pete Miles in his studio-barn in Devon.

JG Harding did the video for the single with Sam Russo acros a weekend in January and while we were confident about his film-making going into the project, I can hardly believe how happy I am with how the video turned out. He’ll be posting up a ‘Making of’ soon and I’ll link that up.

We’re on a short tour with the record from March 17th, starting with Manchfester and ending at the Old Blue Last in London on the 22nd March before heading back around the country, endlessly, forever. Come hang out out.
